RoKu

A villa for experiencing the beauty of nature

Long ago, this building served as the local clinic for the town,
and has represented the foundations of the community’s wellbeing for many years.
Inside this villa, visitors are immediately welcomed by the central stone warehouse
made from a famous type of stone from the Hokuriku region known as Nikkaseki,
constructed by the master shrine carpenters and stoneworkers of Inami.
Inspired by architecture that highlights the strength of nature,
landscape gardener Arata Negishi has created
a design that stimulates an experience of nature
that flows through the garden and around the interior and exterior space of the location.
Rustic hibachi braziers and old roof tiles slip in and out of view
to remind visitors of the history of the location.
