Wood carver
Komei Tanaka has studied wood carving under Seiji Maekawa since 1976. He established Tomoru Studio in 2008 with his wife Sanae, a lacquer artist. In 2018, Komei’s works were exhibited in Hong Kong.

Schedule

Gather at the studio. Begin the morning with a friendly chat with the master artisan and other Inami

Choose a block of cherry blossom wood and design the shape of your spoon with a pencil.
9:30
Learn how to use a chisel and get started on your project.
10:30
Take a break with a cup of tea; get ready for the second half.
11:00
You will be able to see the final form gradually come into view.
11:45
Apply a coating of natural beeswax to protect the wood.
12:00
Workshop finished.

- Charge : 10,000 Yen / person
- Capacity : 4 People (Minimum 2 people)
- Minimum age : 12 years old or older

Notice
- Reservation is required no later than 10 days in advance.
- Our workshop is exclusive for BnC guest.
- The workshop takes place in the artisan’s workshop. For safety reasons, children under 10 years of age are not allowed to visit the workshop, as knives and sensitive lacquer are within reach.
